Ok, here’s what I got: I have used this My Book as my iTunes drive for a little over a year now with no problems - suddenly iMac does not see Drive. I was using the firewire connection, but problem is still there with USB as well. Drive powers on, but all that happens is that white vertical light on the front of the Drive enclosure moves up and down, but the drive never shows up on the.   If you’re here to find out how to fix a Mac that won’t start, we’ve got your back. Most of us have come to take for granted that our Mac, iPhone, or iPad just sort of : Macformat.

If you can't boot to recovery it's possible (and, I believe, likely) that your hard drive mechanism has failed. You didn't say which Mac you have, but if it supports Internet Recovery, then you can hold down ⌘-Option-R to force a boot into Interne.   PS: I own an iMac and love it for my projects, so I’m not anti-Mac I’m just new to Mac after being strictly PC for 20 years, and now use and am happy with both.       How to trade in your old Mac with Apple GiveBack If you're looking to get the new iMac Pro you know you're going to be spending a fair chunk of money. Dropping such a large sum all at once on a new machine can be daunting, but if you have an older Mac in good condition that you wouldn't mind parting ways with, you may be able to save some Author: Luke Filipowicz.   What's wrong with my iMac??? Not sure what happened I came back home from a few errands, and like always, it was asleep.. So I tried to wake it up but it wouldn't.. So I turned it off manually, waited about 20 seconds and then turned it back on It boots up .

Clear the Dynamic Link Editor Dynamic Link Editor is a way for the Mac to load and link programs to shared libraries. If the application delivering the spinning wheel uses a shared library of routines—many applications use shared libraries—the Dynamic Link Editor keeps the application and shared library on speaking terms.

Im looking for some reassurance from someone who has been through the same thing and got their iMac working again. basically our toaster tripped the fuse for all the sockets couple of days ago, we turned on the switch on the fuse box and got everything working apart from my iMac which wouldn't turn on For a few hours but then when I tried again it turned on and it worked fine.

The flashing question mark is your Mac's way of telling you that it's having trouble finding a bootable operating system. Normally, your Mac will start the boot process fast enough that you'll never notice the flashing question mark on the display.

How to Fix iMac Screen Goes Black. When we encounter any one of above-mentioned situations, or others not mentioned about Im turning on my iMac screen going black, we can fix it with just three simple steps.

Step 1 Now what?! book down Mac, if it is still running. And make sure of. While you are in there, I would swap out your (spinning) HDD with a SSD.

I just installed a Samsung EVO SSD in my 27" iMac and it is substantially quieter and cooler than before. Disclaimer: There still is a chance it's the logic board, but it's highly unlikely. Before you do any expensive logic board replacements, try replacing the power. The Zorro Macsk is an easy-to-apply device that converts the iMac into a touchscreen.

A look behind the Zorro Macsk. The Zorro Macsk was designed and made in China. It connects to the inch iMac screen (for now — they’re still expanding their product line) and picks up on swipes and gestures through infrared technology.

The inch model now clocks Turbo Boost speeds up to GHz, and the inch model reaches GHz. Same issue with my early 13" MBP.

THE OEM battery exploded and almost took out the trackpad and case. I got it out in time and took to Apple. They recommended I buy a replacement off the net. I did. I took the opportunity to also upgrade to a SSD drive.

Now my MBP won't turn on unless I remove both the power cord and the battery. I finally got my Firewire Cable from monoprice.

I connected my iMac to my MBP and turned on the iMac and held down T. I finally got it to boot into to Target Disk Mode after about 5 tries. I was able to erase my boot disk in disk utility and install Yosemite back on to it. If you’re computer isn't turning on and you still have warranty, lets the pros at Apple fix your computer.

You can set up a repair online, in an Apple Store, or through an Apple Authorized Retailer. This tutorial is more aimed at Mac users with products that are out of warranty.

A question from a Mac user: “I have a 27” iMac (LateOS X ) with 8GB RAM. The usage of memory is always above 7GB, even though I don’t think I am running that much stuff.

This leads to the occasional hanging of a program and occasional feeling of the computer being lagged.”. I store all of my RAW photo files on a Western Digital external hard drive.

I need them for the foreseeable future, but I only access them once or twice a week and I can easily grab my hard drive for this work. Restart or shutdown your computer regularly. These machines are designed to run 24/7, but they still like a refresh every now and then.

The spinning beach ball is a input device driven event. My old laptop, with minimal RAM out performs my iMac. Right now, it's only saving grace is it communicates well with my iPhone and iPad. It is generally being used as a glorified picture database and email station.

Which, by the way, a cheap chrome book could do, too. If you have run into a situation where videos are not playing in Chrome, here are a couple of things you can do to fix the problem.

Find out the type of memory your iMac uses and how to install additional memory. Install memory in your iMac. Turn your iMac on or off. bad problem here, my Imac is not turning off after hitting the shut down command in the apple menu, I have to physically keep the on/off buttom pressed for a few seconds to turn it disappointing, this thing was bought in FEb, and this is not a problem I expected to have at this.

Press and hold your iMac’s Power button until it shuts itself off. You have to wait about five seconds for your Mac to turn itself off. If holding the Power button down on your iMac doesn’t do the trick, press the Power button and the Left Option+Left Shift+Left Control keyboard shortcut at the same time; then release them all at the same time.I can not discover my WD MyBookLive from my Mac.

I have connected my MyBookLive to a power source, then pluged it into my router. There is solid green light on my MyBookLive and the light at the back is solid yellow.

I have used the software on the install CD and it cannot discover it. I have gone through everything they have sugested and come up with nothing. I have eventually found this.
